The Marjory Stoneman Douglas boys soccer team won their second straight District Championship on Monday, defeating Boca Raton Community High School in the final.
The Eagles had a historic regular season and earned a bye in the opening round of the playoffs. They beat Spanish River Community High School 6-1 in the semifinals before a 4-0 win to win the Championship. Aquiles Yibirin recorded a pair of goals and finsihed the tournament with five gold and seven assists. Coby Alhadeff and Liam Ulinski each scored one, while Nolan Alba had an assist. Juan Batista also pitched a shutout in net and allowed only one goal in 160 minutes.
The Eagles are headed to the Regional Tournament as one of the top seeds with a record of 11-2-2. They are currently ranked as the 19th-ranked team in Florida and 49th in the nation. MSD won their opening game of Regionals 1-0 last year over Miami Palmetto Senior High School before losing in the Semifinals against Doral Academy.
