The Marjory Stoneman Douglas girls soccer team won their seventh straight District Championship on Tuesday against Spanish River Community High School.
After the top seed and a bye in the opening round, the Eagles beat Western High School 8-0 before winning 1-0 in the Championship Game. Alexa Jourdan scored the lone goal in the game after she scored three in the Semifinals.
“I am so proud of the girls, head coach Laura Rountree said. “It was a close hard, fought match, and we were fortunate enough to put one in right at the end.”
MSD improved to 10-1-6 and will head to Regionals as the top seed. It will look to advance to the State Championship for the second straight year. They had wins in Regionals over Coral Glades, Coral Reef, and Cypress Bay High School before falling to Creekside High School in the State Semifinals.
