The Marjory Stoneman Douglas girls’ volleyball team reached the District Final and also earned its spot in the Regional Championship.
After going 10-2 during the regular season and qualifying for the Big-8 Tournament featuring the top teams in Broward County, the Eagles were the top seed and received a bye in the opening round.MSD went on to face J.P. Taravella in the Semifinals on Wednesday and won 25-4, 25-13, 25-13. In the final, the Eagles though lost Boca Raton 17-25, 25-23, 15-25, 25-21, 9-15.
The Eagles will play in Regionals for the third straight year. They upset Boca Raton a year ago before falling in the Regional Semifinals and are seeded sixth and will play Miami Palmetto Senior High School in the opening round.
The Panthers went 16-10 this year and lost in the District Final to Coral Gables High School. This will be the first meeting between these two teams this year.
