The Marjory Stoneman Douglas girls volleyball team continues to dominate, winning two more games this week and starting 4-0 for the first time since 2010.
After beating West Broward and Western High School earlier this season, the Eagles knocked off Cooper City High School 25-21, 21-25, 25-11, 21-25, 15-12 for their third win on Tuesday.
Alyssa James led the way with 19 kills, while Isabella Cox added nine, along with six aces and 12 digs. Grace Pulsifier had a team-high 14 assists, and Mia Horta added 10. Mia Espino and Jayden Minett also combined for eight kills. MSD would then go on to beat Chaminade Madonna High School on Wednesday, 25-21, 23-25, 25-21, 25-20, as James had 19 kills and Cox had 18. Chloe Siqueira finished with 16 digs while Cox and James combined for 26. Horta also shined again with 25 assists, and Pulsifier added 19.
Next, the Eagles will look to continue their historic start on Monday, September 8, against Pembroke Pines Charter at 6 p.m. The 2010 team won their first 15 matches while the Jaguars come in with a record of 2-3. They have beaten Pompano Beach and South Plantation High School while losing to Cypress Bay, Charmaine’s Madonna, and Coral Springs Charter. These teams also met once last year, with MSD winning 25-15, 25-17, 25-20.
