
Seniors From The Marjory Stoneman Douglas Boys Lacrosse Team. {Patricia Victoria}
Marjory Stoneman Douglas lacrosse teams had wins in various ways, highlighted by the boys holding Senior Night on February 26.
Boys
After dropping their first three games, the boys team dominated J.P. Taravella, winning 16-0 for their first season victory.
The Eagles also honored Michael Cacace, Landon Levine, Julian Victoria, Konrad Verlsteffen, Jake Pleffner, Mikey Fierstat, Ryan Mockenhaupt, and Ethan Hand.
Cacace and Josh Johnson each scored three goals and combined for three assists. Max Fliegel added two goals, while Julian Victoria, Landon Beecroft, and Aaron Porudomisnky scored one. Jackson Gibney also added two assists, with Hand making three saves in the shutout.
“All of our seniors are great leaders, and the rest of the team are a great set of kids,” Head Coach Phillip Locke said. “I’m really looking forward to this fun season.”
MSD fell 5-2 on Thursday against Archbishop McArthur High School and will play Miami Palmetto Senior High School in their next game on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The Panthers are 4-3 this year and won 22-10 in their lone matchup last year.
Girls
The girls team, who will have a senior night on March 13, pulled out a 14-13 win over Calvary Christian Academy. Chloe Resnik led the way with five goals and four assists, and Kaitlin Irwin scored four. Amanda Blisky added two goals and an assist, while Aubrey Kasen and Carolina had a goal and an assist, with Patricia Phang scoring the other goal.
MSD lost 16-5 against the Community School of Naples on Saturday. Irwin scored twice, while Phang, Kasen, and Lamb had one. They are 2-3 this year and will host Boca Raton Community High School on Monday, February 3, at 5 p.m. These teams met twice last year, with both the Eagles’ wins coming in the postseason.
