2 Marjory Stoneman Douglas Soccer Players Officially Sign. {MSD Soccer}
Marjory Stoneman Douglas held signing day on February 19, with eight student-athletes making their college pick while another announced her commitment.
The baseball team had three players sign, with Nick Diaz signing with the University of Charleston. He had a tremendous junior season, including the walk-off hit in the State Championship Game. He also hit three home runs and knocked in 23 runs.
Carter Wojcik signed with La Salle University in Philadelphia and began his high school career at Coral Springs Charter. He pitched in eight games, including one complete game, and recorded a win and an ERA of 2.17.
Chase Wildroudt is headed to the State College of Florida. He also played at Coral Springs Charter and had a win during his sophomore season. He pitched and rerecorded his first win against Western High School.
The girls soccer team had Grace Dykstra and Ella Stevens sign. Dykstra is headed to the University of Wisconsin and scored 25 goals and 13 assists in her two years on varsity. She was injured in her senior year but is still set to play Division I Soccer.
Ella Stevens shined in the net for the Eagles and will play at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. MSD recorded 11 of their 12 wins this season by a shutout. They also won a District Championship every year with Stephens, including a pair of runs at Regionals.
Addison Zajkowski is signed with Rollins College and has impressed both offensively and on the mound. She has hit well over .300 with four home runs while also recording 11 wins in the circle. Allyson Lake will swim at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and placed in the top three in both the District and Regional Championships. She also went on to compete at State and swim with TS Aquatics. Gracey Forsure signed to play college volleyball at RIT. The Eagles won a District Championship and competed against Coral Reef High School in Regionals.
The girls lacrosse team also had a commitment with Chloe Resnik heading to Robert Morris University.
“Being contacted on September 1 and then committing to my dream school that following week felt like a dream, but it was actually the completion of my dream,” Resnik said. “I am very excited to take what I know now and bring it to the collegiate level.”
Resnik began playing lacrosse in second grade for the Western Warriors. As she got older, she played on numerous travel teams and landed on Florida Prime, where she says she grew the most.
During her time on varsity, she scored 113 goals in high school. Her team has won a District Championship and been to Regionals twice, winning 28 games, including their one this year for Head Coach Ryan Gallagher’s first win.
Still, with another year before college, Resnik says she had an instant connection with the coaching staff and layers. She also fell in love with the campus and credits a pair of people for helping her get to this moment.
“My father had a huge impact on my career, from working on drills with me, traveling all over the country, and hiring different coaches to help me, Resnik added. “Angie Benson, my mentor, coach, and director of Florida Prime, has been very impactful in my career.”
