Marjory Stoneman Douglas celebrated senior night for its lacrosse programs, highlighted by a strong showing from the girls’ team.
The Eagles earned a 14-7 victory over Miami Country Day School, finishing the regular season with a 10-4 record. The team honored seniors Gabriella Rivera, Gia Capistrano, Chloe Resnik, Saoirse Popen, and Marissa Gallagher.
Aubrey Kasen led the offense with five goals in the win, while Resnik added four goals and two assists. Morgan McCluskey scored twice, and Patricia Phang and Mary Denvey each added a goal. MSD will have a week off before the start of the postseason after making it to the Regional Semifinals a year ago.
On the boys’ side, the Eagles fell 14-2 but recognized seniors Andrew Greenberg, Noah Ozan, Nate Klein, John Johnson, Dhruv Mutha, Dylan Kaye, Aaron Porudominsky, and Zaid Popen. Max Fliegel and Mason Wiener scored the team’s two goals. The Eagles head into the postseason with a 1-9 record, with their lone win coming in a 15-1 victory over Coral Glades earlier this season.
Zack Pope leads the team with 12 goals, followed by Fliegel with 10 and Wiener with seven. Lieberman, Ozan, and Porudominsky have each contributed multiple goals, while Klein, Kaye, Johnson, Tyler Litman, and Ethan Kass have also found the back of the net this season.
MSD will play one final regular-season game on Tuesday, March 31, against Spanish River Community High School at 6:30 p.m. The Sharks are 6-7 this year but have dropped two straight after previously winning two in a row.
