The Marjory Stoneman Douglas swim team held Senior Night on Tuesday at the Coral Springs Aquatic Center.
The Eagles swam against J.P. Taravella while honoring Lorenzo Herek, Hope Suther, Kayleigh Didovic, Rhania Suarez, Selah Rogers, Allyson Lake, Isabella Perez, Brittany Bean, Marcell Chafloque, Xyen Walker, Alexander Nichols, Matias Gold, Yotam Shanun and Giann Sands.
Coach Lauren Rubenstein says she wants to thank their 13 seniors for their remarkable season.
“Their dedication to the sport and our team has inspired their teammates and coaches,” Rubenstein said. “They have made a lasting impact on our team, but we aren’t done yet. We look forward to seeing how far into the post-season many of these seniors and their teammates can go.”
The girls’ team competed in all 12 events, including three relay teams with Isabella Perez, Sands, Alexa Anthony, and Allyson Lake in the 100-yard freestyle relay. Lake, Hope Suther, Sophia El Chantiry, and Carly Chin won the 200-yard medley relay, while El Chantiry, Hope Suther, Alexa Anthony, and Carly Chin took first in the 200-yard medley relay. Chantiry and Lake each won two individual races, with wins from Chin, Suther, Suarez, and Beam.
The boys team won one relay with Joseph Villalobos, Maxim Georgiev, Alexander Nichols, and Blake Calkcom in the 200-yard medley relay. Nichols also won the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard freestyle, while Matias Gold, Andrew Stanchfield, and Roman Kondrashov also won races.
Next, the Eagles will prepare for the District Meet on Tuesday, October 22, starting at 12 p.m. at the Wellington Aquatic Center.
