Onyx and Ruckus {Broward County Animal Care}
Broward County Animal Care is shining a spotlight on two special dogs looking for loving homes: Onyx, an affectionate senior with plenty of pep, and Ruckus, a playful pup with a big heart and unique needs.
Onyx (A2416871) is an 8-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix who came to the shelter as a stray from Tamarac in late March. Despite his age, Onyx is full of energy and charm. He enjoys going for walks, soaking up attention, and snacking on treats. While he’s friendly, Onyx prefers to choose his own canine companions, so slow and proper introductions with other dogs are recommended.
This handsome pup is already neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped—and his adoption fees are waived. Onyx is also sponsored by The Pet Project, meaning his new family will receive free food, vaccines, and reduced-cost veterinary care for life.
Ruckus (A2420272) is a 4-year-old American Bulldog mix who was found as a stray in Fort Lauderdale in April. Ruckus is deaf, but that doesn’t slow him down. He loves playing with toys, swimming, and hanging out with other dogs at the shelter.
Because of his hearing impairment, Ruckus would do best in a home with adults or older children. An adopter with experience caring for deaf dogs would be ideal. He’s already learning hand signals, showing promise with his training.
Like Onyx, Ruckus is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, with adoption fees waived.
Both pets are available at Broward County Animal Care, located at 2400 SW 42nd St. in Fort Lauderdale. All adopted pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adopters are only responsible for the $25 Broward County pet registration tag.
