The Marjory Stoneman Douglas flag football team had a memorable week, highlighted by a senior night victory and a historic milestone from their quarterback.
The Eagles honored seniors Mickayla Sugrano, Jordan Tessler, AB Puccio, Alina Caravello, Saanvi Singh, Makayla Jules, and Tia Robinson prior to their game against Charles W. Flanagan High School.
Puccio then delivered a standout performance, reaching 100 career touchdown passes in a dominant 37–0 win over Flanagan. She entered the game with 96 and surpassed the milestone while also throwing for 205 yards, eclipsing 5,000 career passing yards.
Ava Kelleher, Sugrano, Singh, and Courtney Heymach each caught touchdown passes, while Caravello added to the scoring with a touchdown pass to Avery Shah, and Puccio also added a rushing score.
Defensively, Tessler recorded multiple sacks to lead the unit, while Adriana Primiterra, Sam Acosta, and Makayla Jules combined for three more. Sugrano, along with Elayna Garzon and Ellie Garzon, each recorded interceptions to help the Eagles improve to 11–1 on the season.
MSD will have eight days off before facing J.P. Taravella on Tuesday, April 7, at 5 p.m. They will then close the regular season against Western High School on April 16.
