The Marjory Stoneman Douglas cross-country teams impressed at the District Championship on Wednesday at South Country Regional Park.
The girls’ team finished second with Emiliana Anzures leading the way at 20:42.0. Olympia Koumoutsakis was next to finish for the Eagles, placing 12th, while Lola Simcox, Alexys Caropreso, Sparta Koumoutsakis, Noa Nierman, Sophia Zengotita, and Cecilia Gago placed 21st through 26th, respectively. Caroline Schwartz and Jada Pfingsten also competed to qualify for Regionals.
The boys’ team came in eighth place and also qualified, with Matthew Rosenberg coming in 10th individually at 17:15.0. Alexander Spadaciini, Nicholas Rosenberg, and Caleb Walker all had nearly identical times to place in the top 53, while Rocko Martone, Joshua Glasgow, Colton Pattok, and Aaron Grossman also raced.
Next, MSD will compete in Regionals on Wednesday, November 12, at Larry and Penny Thompson Park.
