The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School softball team capped off a strong season with an appearance in Regionals.
The Eagles were seeded sixth and faced Spanish River Community High School, but fell 6-4. The Sharks jumped out to a 1-0 lead before MSD tied the game in the third inning on an RBI double from Myah Boleen.
Spanish River scored the next three runs to take a 4-1 lead, but the Eagles responded again and tied the game on RBIs from Kaitlin Enright, Page Kalvaitis, and Makenzie Degan. The Sharks regained the lead in the sixth inning with two runs and advanced to the Regional Semifinals.
MSD previously won 14 games during the regular season, then knocked off Coral Glades 5-2 in the postseason. The Eagles later fell in the District Championship, while Boleen finished the season leading the team with six home runs.
Dani Rincon added two home runs, while  Enright and Lily Chamberlin each hit one. Rebecca Perez also had a strong season, finishing third on the team in RBIs, while Enright recorded a team-high nine wins in the circle. Michaela Johnston added three wins, and Olivia Weiss finished with two.
