The Original Florida Pokers continued their summer with three teams competing in the Perfect Game Elite National Championship in Hoover, Alabama.
The 2026 team’s lone win came against 5 Star Southeast. They recorded a 7-2 victory behind a big game from Reggie Rodriguez. He drove in four of the team’s seven runs while Reid Dadic also knocked in two.
Cade Raley added one RBI with Julian Diaz and Blake Sundberg striking out seven in five innings. Diaz did not allow a run or a hit in three innings, but walked four. Sundberg came in and allowed only one hit but gave up two runs.Â
Jack Rostock started the opening game and pitched two perfect innings. The Pokers would lose 4-1 despite an RBI hit from Nico Sabatino. Their other losses came against St. Lucy Legacy and Canes Southwest. Rodriguez, though, homered for a second time and drove in three in the final game.Â
The 2027 team won four games, including a walk-off victory in the first game. Jackson Taylor drove in Brody Gargiulo in a 6-5 win. They would also go on to erase a five-run deficit and beat USA Prime Coastal 9-6 before a 1-0 victory over Marucci Elite Texas.Â
Taylor drove in the only run while Sage Bennett and Landon Combs combined for the shutout. Their final win came against Texas Twelve Black following an 8-5 victory. The Pokers had six players drive in runs, with Alejandro Cordero leading the way with two.Â
The 2028 team won two games following a 4-3 win over Farm System Prospects and a 9-1 win against the Mid-Atlantic Red Sox. Nelson Velasquez had a game-winning two-run double in the final inning to win their first game. Jaycob Dominguez, Jackson Evans, and Connor Boyette all pitched and combined to strike out seven.
They would also win 9-1 with both Dom Burns and Tyler Stertzbach each driving in three runs. Dominguez and Charlie Acierno also had RBIs with Sterzbach tossing a complete game and allowing only one earned run.Â
