The Park Trails Elementary School debate team delivered an impressive performance at the Broward County District Tournament on May 2, bringing home seven awards across multiple categories.
The tournament, held at Driftwood Middle School in Hollywood, showcased top student speakers from across the county, with Park Trails competitors earning recognition for their preparation, delivery and stage presence.
Sienna Franks and Lily Bernstein placed third in Duo Interpretation, while Leonardo Maia earned third place in Congressional Debate. Reyan Kalra captured first place in Declamation, leading a strong showing in individual events.
In Dramatic Interpretation, Park Trails students swept several top spots, with Olivia Mandracchia earning first place, Aleya Gutierrez taking second and Rose Levin finishing fifth. Jacob Kramer also placed fourth in Original Oratory.
Students prepared for the competition under the guidance of coaches Deanna Boehm and Glenda Berthiaume, who helped them refine their performances throughout the season.
The team recently showcased its talents closer to home during Park Trails Elementary’s Art and Music Showcase, where families and friends gathered to watch performances and learn more about the school’s debate program.
