Nordic Bakery & Coffee House
By Jaimi Vining
Norway is known for its chocolates, stunning fjords, and influence in Disney’s Frozen movie series.
Coral Springs welcomed some Norwegian culinary culture this week with the opening of Nordic Bakery & Coffee House. The bakery, which has primarily operated from its original Hollywood location since 2013, specializes in Danish pastries and high-end coffee beverages.
Parkland residents and husband and wife owners Runar and Pia Einarsrud, who live in Casa Del Sol in Heron Bay, are excited to share their Scandinavian customs, which are reflected in the business name and heart-shaped logo design.
“Historically, Norwegians served heart-shaped waffles during family gatherings or social events,” said Einarsrud, adding that waffles with a heart shape symbolized offering the very best to guests.
Nordic Bakery offers 23 different flavors of pastries, including various buttery croissants and buns, and freshly made sandwiches.
“Our pastries are made from the original recipes,” said Einarsrud. “They are light, airy, crunchy and it is easy to feel the many layers of the dough folded several times using a special technique.”
The shop has limited indoor and outdoor seating and pre-orders can be placed for pick-up or delivery through UberEats.
Try a flaky, fresh fruit jam pastry and cappuccino on your next visit. Nordic Bakery is now open at 11418 W. Sample Rd. in Coral Springs.
