Parkland Crime Blotter: Unattended E-Bike Worth $4,295 Stolen While Teen Was Fishing

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office in Parkland responded to various incidents between July 7 and July 13, 2026.

Incidents

Theft
A juvenile’s unattended electric bicycle valued at $4,295 was stolen while the victim was fishing in Parkland between 11 a.m. and noon on July 8. The suspect remains unknown.

Retail Theft
Two unidentified women allegedly stole approximately $1,800 worth of merchandise from the CVS at 7621 N. State Road 7 on July 8. The investigation is ongoing.

Threats
A Parkland resident reported receiving text messages and verbal threats from another person between July 3 and July 7 over a contractor-related dispute.

Fraud
A Parkland resident reported that an unknown suspect fraudulently obtained a student loan using the victim’s personal information, resulting in a reported loss of $9,500. The victim requested a police report to dispute the fraudulent loan.

Fraud
A resident reported losing $483 after falling victim to a phone scam on July 11. According to deputies, the suspect posed as a Bank of America fraud representative and convinced the victim to send money through Zelle. The victim chose to work directly with the bank rather than pursue criminal charges.

Information
Deputies documented a dispute between The Goddard School and Dear Olivia restaurant at Parkland Commons Plaza regarding the use of a shared dumpster.

Domestic Disturbance (Non-Crime)
Deputies responded to a verbal dispute between a husband and wife going through a divorce on July 10 after the wife refused to return the husband’s laptop. The laptop was eventually returned, and no physical violence or criminal offense occurred.

Domestic Disturbance (Non-Crime)
Deputies responded to another verbal domestic dispute on July 11 involving a married couple arguing over suspected infidelity. No physical altercation or criminal offense was found, and the husband voluntarily left the residence.

Arrests

George Richard Miquel, 62, was arrested on July 8 on a felony charge of scheme to defraud over $50,000.

Shaquanta Jones, 44, was arrested on July 8 and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Justin Ty Lequerique, 37, was arrested on July 12 and charged with domestic battery.
