A group of talented teenage musicians from Coral Springs and Parkland is taking its music to one of South Florida’s biggest youth competitions after earning a coveted spot in the 2026 Battle of the Bands finals at Mizner Park Amphitheater.
The Introverts, a five-member band made up of students from local schools, is one of only four teen bands selected from all applicants to compete in the annual event on Friday, August 7, from 7:00 to 10:30 p.m. at Mizner Park Amphitheater in Boca Raton.Â
“This is now Burny’s third year in a row that his House Band students from the Coral Springs School of Rock have made it into the Battle of the Bands finals,” Heather Emery, mother of drummer Reagan Emery Eugenio, told Coral Springs Talk.
“Only four teen bands out of all the entrants are selected, so it’s a really big accomplishment for these kids and our community.”
The Introverts band consists of Mason Martinez, 17, of Coral Springs, who attends Coral Springs Charter School and serves as lead vocalist; Nikhil Ramchandran, 15, of Parkland, a guitarist at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School; Reagan Emery Eugenio, 12, of Coral Springs, who plays drums and provides backing vocals while attending Sawgrass Springs Middle School; Clayton Singer, 14, of Coral Springs, a guitarist at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School; and bassist Camryn Woodham, 18, of Parkland, who will begin attending the University of Florida this fall.
The group officially formed in May 2025 after years of playing together through the Coral Springs School of Rock’s performance and House Band programs.
“Nikhil, Clayton, and Reagan sat down for a couple of jam sessions where hardly anyone spoke, but the music was incredible,” Emery said. “That’s how the name ‘The Introverts’ was born. They later invited Mason and Camryn to join the band.”
Their first performance nearly hit an unexpected snag.
“Their very first gig was in June 2025, and Reagan was almost late because she was graduating from Westchester Elementary School earlier that same day,” Emery said.
The friendships behind the band stretch back even further than the music itself.Â
“Reagan and Nikhil actually met at a School of Rock summer camp when Reagan was 7, and Nikhil was 10,” Emery said. “Over the years, through performance shows and House Band activities, the rest of the group became close throughout 2024 and into 2025.”
The Introverts perform hard rock spanning several decades, covering music from the 1960s through the early 2000s with a particular focus on grunge and alternative rock.
“They’ll play everything from The Doors to Jimmy Eat World,” Emery said. “Their cover of ‘Would’ by Alice in Chains went viral on Instagram, but fan favorites also include ‘Wipeout’ and ‘Time Warp’ from Rocky Horror. Everyone has different musical influences, so they work together to find songs they all love.”
To earn a place in the finals, the band submitted videos from two live performances.
“They sent in covers of ‘Don’t Fear the Reaper’ from Cagney’s Saloon and ‘Evenflow’ from the Parkland Eats N Beats show,” Emery said. “The judges selected them as one of the four finalists.”
While winning the competition would be a major accomplishment, the band says the event carries an even deeper meaning.
“This will be Camryn’s final show before she heads off to college,” Emery said. “It would mean the world to all of them to send her off with this incredible memory. Of course, the prize money would be great, but they’re really focused on celebrating Camryn and thanking her for an amazing year together.”
Fans can also catch the band before the competition during a free preview performance and send-off celebration for Woodham from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, at Sharkey’s Bar & Grill in Coral Springs.
For those planning to attend the Battle of the Bands, organizers recommend bringing a chair or picnic blanket for seating. Admission is free, and audience members will help determine the Fan Favorite winner while judges award the competition’s $2,500 grand prize.
