A Parkland man is facing multiple felony charges after investigators say he used X’s Grok to create AI-generated child sexual abuse images.
Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrest records show Ray Lequerique Jr., 25, was arrested July 10 following an investigation by the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a cyber tip from xAI in May.Â
According to investigators, the report alleged an X user had created and possessed child sexual abuse material. Detectives traced the X account to Lequerique and served a search warrant for the account. Investigators allege he used AI prompts to generate sexually explicit images depicting girls who appeared to be between 5 and 9 years old.
Records show that xAI employees reviewed 29 AI-generated images before reporting them to NCMEC. Detectives allege the images were created from photographs of real children, including images that could have been obtained from social media, as well as photographs of children with whom Lequerique had close contact.
According to investigators, a search of the X account uncovered more than 13,000 media files, many depicting pre-teen girls. Detectives also said they recovered AI prompts allegedly used to generate the images.Â
Court documents describe one prompt instructing the AI to create a sexually explicit scene involving minors.
On July 10, detectives executed a search warrant at Lequerique’s Parkland home near the 6700 block of Northwest 83rd Terrace. According to the arrest affidavit, Lequerique admitted the X account belonged to him and acknowledged altering images of minors to create child sexual abuse material.Â
Detectives wrote that he also admitted searching the internet for child pornography and images of young girls. According to the report, he expressed remorse and told investigators he “knew it was wrong.”
Lequerique was booked into the Broward Main Jail. His bond was set at $110,000.
