A man has been arrested and charged with grand theft auto after he and a group of accomplices attempted to steal a Lamborghini from a Parkland residence.
On January 5, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a robbery at the Parkland Golf and Country Club.
According to reports, a group of alleged suspects entered the gated community by “tailgating” a resident’s vehicle through the security gate. Once inside, they targeted a 2024 white Lamborghini parked at a residence within the community.
Records show security footage captured the attempted robbery, showing two suspects exiting their vehicle and trying to open the doors of the Lamborghini. As law enforcement arrived on the scene, the burglary attempt was stopped.
One of the men involved in the attempted robbery – later identified as Terronce Thornton, 20, of Lauderhill – admitted to law enforcement that the driver of the car he arrived in—whom he refused to identify – drove all four suspects to the victim’s home with the intent to steal the Lamborghini.
Thornton allegedly acted as a lookout during the robbery. The other men involved are not identified at this time.
Thornton was arrested and transported to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail. He has since been released after posting a $3,000 bond.
