Parkland Teams Turn in Historic Showing at NFL FLAG Championships

Parkland’s NFL FLAG teams showcased the area’s talent on the national stage, with multiple squads making impressive postseason runs at the NFL FLAG Championships.

The 14U girls team, representing the Miami Dolphins, earned the No. 6 seed out of 32 teams following pool play; the Dolphins caught fire in the bracket, defeating Texas Fury 24-14, Conquer Bolts 19-6 and the Virginia Hurricanes 24-16.

Their most memorable victory came in the opening round of the playoffs. Trailing 13-0 at halftime against the Kansas City Heat, the Dolphins stormed back by scoring 28 unanswered points to claim a 28-13 victory and advance to the Sweet 16. They continued their impressive run before eventually reaching the quarterfinals and losing 24-0.

The Dolphins’ roster featured Ainsley Weissman, Noa Rachimi, Kaitlin Zaharia, Avery Shah, Olivia Ged, Sammy Link, Emily Broch and Isabella Miller.

The 12U boys team, representing the Cincinnati Bengals, also put together an outstanding postseason run. After winning just one of its three pool play games, the Bengals bounced back with a 13-0 victory in the opening round before upsetting the tournament’s No. 1 seed, 19-13, but also fell in the Quarterfinals.

The Bengals featured James Wyman, Kellen Link, Austin Shah, Joseph Zalka, Joey LeClaire, Tyson Clarke, Christian Mikosz, Jonathan Isaac McGriff and Greyson Darienzo.

Representing the Tennessee Titans, the 10U boys finished 1-2 in pool play before advancing to the playoffs, where their tournament ended with a 22-13 defeat in the opening round. The Titans’ roster included Dominic Aversa, Malachi Brier, Christian Corvino, Jace Davis, Brody Goldstein, Aiden Goldsmith, Cooper Haggerty and Parker Haggerty.

The 8U boys, representing the Jacksonville Jaguars, also advanced to the postseason after earning a 28-0 victory in pool play. The Jaguars reached the Sweet 16 before falling 7-0. Their roster featured Carter Daly, Nico Pedone, Joseph Ungerer, Asher Miller, Justice McGriff, Ethan Lawrence, AJ DosSantos and Cooper KoKonas.
