Parkland wrestler Michael Mocco won the U17 World Championship in Amman, Jordan.
A member of Team USA, Mocco won six matches to take home the title. He beat wrestlers worldwide and outscored his opponents 53-0 before winning 16-6 in the final.
“I am still trying to figure out what happened,” Mocco said. “It feels amazing. You can never learn enough. I have always wanted to get better at all the positions, and I love wrestling. I love technique, so I like to learn as many positions as I can.”
Mocco, who resides in Whittier Oaks, is in his junior year at Cardinal Gibbons High School. He aims for his third Straight State Championship before going to college.
