Move over, Harry Potter: the Puffs are ready for the spotlight.
Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s drama department will stage the Hogwarts-inspired play Puffs this Thursday and Friday, featuring an array of student actors in what they hope is a spellbinding performance.
“There was once a boy who went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil,” the student performers said in a bulletin announcing the show. “This is not his story, but the story of the Puffs, who just so happened to be there too. The entire show follows the adventures of the Puffs as they go through their seven years at this certain school of magic. The Puffs just want one thing in life: To finally win third place in the House Cup.”
In J.K. Rowling’s beloved Harry Potter books, Hufflepuff is one of four houses in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry attended by Harry and his friends.
Students in the Potter-verse are assigned houses based on their characteristics, and Hufflepuff pupils are known to be hard-working, kind and fair.
“This show is full of hilarious jokes and fun references POTTERphiliacs will love,” the performers wrote.
The play was originally produced off-Broadway by Tilted Windmills Theatricals, according to MSD.
The cast list is as follows:
Logan LaPierre
Jacob Harris
Pearl Mass
Ashley LoForno
Alex Jolly
Lexi Schwartzberg
Nick Bedusa
Naomi Sternberg
Nick Lemus
Sydney Lotz
Samantha Schelin
Puffs will be performed at the high school at 5901 Pine Island Rd. on November 4th and 5th at 7 p.m. Tickets must be purchased online at douglashigh.seatyourself.biz.
