Parkland has been named the best place to live in Florida in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-27 Best Places to Live rankings, while also earning a spot among the top-ranked communities in the nation.
The annual rankings placed Parkland 14th nationally among 250 communities selected from more than 850 cities and towns evaluated across the United States. The city was the highest-ranked Florida community on the list and improved significantly from its national ranking a year earlier, when it ranked 59th.
According to U.S. News and World Report, the rankings are based on a combination of factors that Americans say matter most when deciding where to live. Communities were evaluated using measures tied to quality of life, value, desirability, and the strength of the local job market. This year’s methodology placed greater weight on affordability and value, as rising housing and living costs continue to influence relocation decisions nationwide.
Parkland, a city of around 35,000 residents in northwest Broward County, has long been known for its large residential neighborhoods, parks, open spaces, and highly rated schools. The city’s development policies have historically emphasized preserving its suburban character and green space while managing growth.
The recognition places Parkland ahead of every other Florida city included in the rankings.
While U.S. News and World Report did not identify a single factor responsible for the city’s placement, the publication’s scoring system weighs multiple indicators that contribute to overall livability, including education, health care access, economic conditions, and residents’ quality of life.
The ranking adds to a series of national and statewide recognitions Parkland has received in recent years for its family-oriented character and residential quality of life. The city regularly performs well in surveys and rankings focused on communities for families and suburban living.
U.S. News and World Report releases its Best Places to Live rankings annually using public data and consumer survey responses. Analysts for the publication said affordability played a larger role in this year’s rankings than in previous years, reflecting concerns voiced by Americans about housing costs and overall financial stability.
