Six Parkland students will get a closer look at local government as participants in the city’s Mayor for a Month program for the 2026-27 school year.
The mayor and City Commission welcomed the students during the Oct. 7 commission meeting. The program gives selected students opportunities to shadow the mayor, attend commission meetings and city events, and learn how local government works.
This year’s participants are sixth graders Austin Sheir and Ayansh Shah, seventh grader Aarna Mishra, ninth grader Blake Barrett, 10th grader Aarav Goyani, and 12th grader Sebastian Cabral.
The students, whose grade levels range from middle school through senior year of high school, will have opportunities to observe city leadership and learn about the decisions affecting their community.
