The City of Parkland is uniting with schools and communities nationwide for an annual event promoting physical activity among students.
Wednesday, October 4 is the 27th Annual National Walk & Roll to School Day. During this day, students are encouraged to embrace a healthier and more environmentally friendly mode of transportation to get to school.
The City of Parkland will help celebrate National Walk & Roll to School Day by encouraging elementary-aged students to leave their cars behind and instead walk, bike, or use wheelchairs, scooters, or any other non-motorized mode of transportation to reach their schools.
As an added bonus for participating, city officials promise those who arrive at their elementary schools on National Walk & Roll Day will be greeted with a surprise.
For nearly three decades, National Walk & Roll to School Day has been an annual reminder for students of all ages to get out and live healthier lifestyles. The day also doubles as a way to raise awareness for city officials around the country about the need for safer routes to school.
Registration for the 2023 National Walk & Roll to School Day is now open. Parents, students, and schools are encouraged to sign up today to be part of this exciting initiative and spread the positive impact of this year’s event.
