Fans can once again join three-time MLB All-Star and World Series champion Anthony Rizzo for his foundation’s annual Walk-Off for Cancer after last year’s virtual event.

This year’s Anthony Rizzo Foundation 5K walk is back with the New York Yankee’s first baseman, along with entertainment and special guest appearances from local dignitaries and celebrities.

State Rep. Christine Hunschofsky has participated in the Rizzo Walk since its inception.

“It is a wonderful community event that supports the great work done by Anthony Rizzo and the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation to help children battling cancer and their families,” she said.

In 2008, at the age of 18, Rizzo, a then-Parkland resident, and graduate from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School began his career as a professional baseball player, however, his life came to an abrupt halt after he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, eventually enduring six months of chemotherapy.

Now a World Series champion, he created the foundation in 2012 as a dream to help families in their darkest days and make a positive impact on the pediatric cancer community.

Rizzo himself will attend the event on Sunday, November 14, beginning with a presentation at 8:30 a.m., followed by the walk at 9:00 a.m. at Pine Trails Park.

Two registration options, both virtual and in-person, are open to accommodate as many guests as possible while keeping everyone safe. Those who register for Anthony Rizzo’s 10th Annual Walk-Off For Cancer receive a custom Walk-Off t-shirt, Nike drawstring bag, and Rizzo hat.

Those who raise or donate $250 or more receive an autographed Anthony Rizzo New York Yankees photo. The team that fundraises the most funds will be recognized and receive an autographed #48 New York Yankees Jersey.
