The family of a 14-year-old Parkland girl is asking for support from their community after the teenager suffered a life-threatening stroke.
Following the devastating medical event on April 12, Juliet LaMadeleine underwent two brain surgeries and is currently “on an extremely difficult and uncertain road to healing,” her parents, Mark and Victoria, wrote on a GoFundMe fundraising campaign page.
“Juliet is just 14 years old — a brilliant, vibrant, and powerful little soul with a heart full of light and limitless love,” the LaMadeleines said. “She is currently in critical condition, and while she continues to fight with incredible strength, her recovery will require weeks in the hospital and many months of dedicated care and rehabilitation.
“We are asking our community—near and far—to come together in love and support for Juliet. Please join us in praying for her, sending healing thoughts, and helping her in any way you can.”
The family said people can help Juliet by sharing her story, offering encouragement, or contributing a monetary donation.
“Your support will help ease the burdens of this journey and allow us to be fully present for her as she fights to heal, she will need 24/7 care from Mark or myself,” the LaMadeleines said.
Juliet LaMadeleine, along with her brothers, plays in the Parkland Flag Football League, according to the league’s Facebook page.
Juliet’s father, Mark LaMadeleine, is a local firefighter and a regular coach in the league, according to the organization.
“Juliet and her parents have a long road ahead of them. They are not out of the woods on this yet. There is a lot that needs to be done,” the league’s Facebook post stated. “They need a lot of prayers. They need a lot of assistance. Mark and Victoria need to be by Juliet’s side throughout this to support her and love her and provide everything that she needs to heal and recover … We love you Juliet.”
