
Seniors from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Basketball Team. {MSD Basketball}
Marjory Stoneman Douglas had a busy week, highlighted by Senior Night, the Big-8 Tournament, and the release of playoff brackets.
The boys basketball team opened the week with a road game against Piper High School, falling 63–58. The Eagles then returned home to celebrate Senior Night against Coral Springs Charter. Seniors Jacob Rayvis, Nirel Earley, Khristian Slack, Azayvien Wilson, and Payton Joyner were honored before MSD earned a 60–51 victory, securing the team’s ninth win of the season.
The Eagles enter the District Tournament as the No. 4 seed and will face Santaluces High School on Tuesday, February 3, at 6 p.m. MSD defeated the Chiefs 60–54 in their earlier meeting this season, while Santaluces finished the regular season with an 8–12 record. The winner will advance to face top-seeded Coral Glades in the Semifinals. On the other side of the bracket, Boca Raton Community High School will play the winner of Spanish River and Park Vista Community High School.
The girls’ basketball team dominated Stranahan High School with an 82–13 victory behind strong performances from seniors Maddie Feldman, Izzie Feldman, and Tessa Morales. The trio combined for 53 points, led by Maddie Feldman’s game-high 27 points. Izzie Feldman added 18 points, while Morales finished with eight.
MSD qualified for the Big-8 Tournament, which features the top eight teams in Broward County, but was eliminated in the opening round by Nova High School. The Eagles closed the regular season with a 12–5 record and earned the No. 1 seed in the District Tournament.
MSD will receive a bye before facing the winner of Santaluces and Spanish River Community High School. Park Vista Community High School also earned a bye and will play the winner of the Coral Glades-Boca Raton Community High School game.
