Former Marjory Stoneman Douglas star Roman Anthony had quite the memorable moment during his spring training game with the Boston Red Sox prospects.
With a fan yelling “overrated” to the number two ranked prospect in baseball, Anthony hit a 435-foot home run against the Tampa Bay Rays’s top prospects.
During spring training this year, Anthony has had 15 at-bats with the Boston Red Sox and has driven in four runs. The All-American played two years with the MSD varsity baseball team, hitting .545 with ten home runs and 40 RBIs as a senior. He finished his high school career with 15 homers and 62 RBIs.
Anthony was selected in the second round by the Boston Red Sox and rose to the top prospect in baseball. In 2023, he was named the Red Sox Minor League Player of the Year. During his professional career, he has hit 32 home runs and drove in 141, beginning in rookie ball and working his way to Triple-A. While Anthony is set to begin the season in the minors, the left-handed slugger has a chance to make his MLB debut this year with the Red Sox.
