Jakir Hasan {BSO}
A man was arrested last week after BSO said he stalked a Parkland woman for months, secretly placed a tracking device on her vehicle, and sent her a handwritten letter with a live round of ammunition in the envelope.
According to Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrest records, Jakir Hasan, 23, West Palm Beach, was taken into custody on January 28 following an investigation by Parkland BSO into allegations of aggravated stalking and the unlawful installation of a tracking device without consent.
Police detail in the report that they were first contacted earlier that day when deputies responded to a residence in Parkland after the victim reported ongoing harassment from Hasan.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the victim reported receiving repeated text messages, social media communications, and handwritten letters from Hasan despite blocking multiple phone numbers and online accounts. Police say Hasan allegedly created new numbers and social media profiles to continue contacting her after being blocked.
Investigators say the situation worsened on January 27, when the victim discovered a tracking device attached to her vehicle. The device was reportedly detected after Apple sent an alert to her phone indicating that an unknown tracker was nearby. The victim activated a sound on her phone, which helped her locate the device.
Court records also state that on January 11, the victim’s brother found a handwritten letter left in the driveway of their Parkland residence at approximately 2:00 a.m. The envelope allegedly contained multiple letters and a live 9mm round.
In addition to the letters, police say the victim reported that Hasan had previously threatened to shoot her new boyfriend in a text message, though that message was later deleted. The victim told officers she feared Hasan might harm her new boyfriend, even though she did not believe he would directly harm her.
Police contacted Hasan by phone, and he agreed to meet with detectives at BSO. Investigators say Hasan admitted to writing the letters, sending the envelope that contained the ammunition, and placing the tracking device on the victim’s vehicle.
Following the interview, Hasan was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
