The Marjory Stoneman Douglas flag football team continues its impressive postseason run, knocking off Miami Palmetto Senior High School on Monday in the Regional Semifinals.
After entering Regionals as the No. 7 seed, the Eagles have now defeated two higher-seeded opponents. They first edged Western High School 14-7 before following it up with a 13-7 victory in their latest matchup.
Avery Shaw and Audrey Haltiwanger each hauled in touchdown passes from AB Puccio, while Elayna Garzon sealed the win with a clutch interception in the final minute. Garzon, Elisabeth Garzon, Katie Diaz, Mickayla Sugrano, Caitlin Taylor, Audrey Haltiwanger and Courtney Heymach shined as well on defense.
MSD will now play for a Regional Championship on Thursday, May 7 against the Park Vista Community High School at 7 p.m. The Cobras rank fourth in the nation and are 17-0 this season.
