It should be another exciting matchup this week when Marjory Stoneman Douglas and Coral Springs High School face off in the annual Pig Bowl.
The Eagles come into the game 3-3 after defeating South Plantation High School 33-7 in their last matchup. Before that, MSD had lost three straight games after starting the season 2-0, winning the past six meetings with Coral Springs High School, defeating the Colts 14-6 in the season-opener in 2020.
Leading the way for MSD has been running back Matthew Wilson, who has 612 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Hunter Rose has taken over at quarterback, gone 19-41 for 246 yards, and had a pair of rushing touchdowns in his last game.
Defensively, Gabriel Lenamon leads the team with 49 tackles. Luke Evans, Traejon Roberts, and Chris Cepeda have combined to pick off seven passes this year, while Anthony Perillo has five of the team’s 20 sacks this season.
The Colts had only one win coming into their last game against West Boca Raton Community High School but scored a season-high 47 points in their previous matchup on Senior Night.
Quarterback Owens-Noel June threw for three touchdowns, with Tyler Lubin recording two of them. Tyrique Gordon Gordon caught the other pass while Trejon Monereau, Garth Lewis, and Jayvyn Early had rushing touchdowns.
The kickoff will be in Parkland at Cumber Stadium on Friday, October 29, at 7 p.m.
