High school golf is underway, and Marjory Stoneman Douglas is looking to return to the State Championship.
The boy’s team performed incredibly in their match on Wednesday against J.P. Taravella, with three golfers shooting every par.
Evan Mazanec, Josh Lieberman, and Carson Meredith all shot 36 at Colony West Golf Club in Tamarac. Max Rosen finished with the fourth-best score, a 38, while Diego Femenias and Joshua Anderson recorded 46 and 49, respectively. Nico Levy was the lone Trojan to compete, shooting a 49.
The girls team shined in their match against Piper High School at Springs Tree Country Club. Elisa Hernandez shot a 35, while Sophie Alcala-Marks and Ella Thompson posted 37s. Stella Marvel also played and recorded a 47
“We have a great group of young men representing Stoneman Douglas this year on the golf course, “head coach Darren Levine said. “With six returners, we’re looking for our experienced juniors and seniors to make a deep run into the playoffs this season.”
Next, the boys will play at Deer Creek Golf Club against Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach High School on Wednesday, September 11, while the girls will play their next match on Monday, September 9, against Pompano Beach High School.
