The Marjory Stoneman Douglas girls volleyball team continued to win and has officially started the season 9-1, following three wins this past week.
The Eagles played a pair of teams from Coral Springs to begin the week, defeating Coral Glades 25-12, 25-17, 25-9. They would then go on to beat J.P. Taravella 25-11, 25-15, 25-16, and then win their final match of the week against Pompano Beach High School 25-23, 25-14, 13-25, 25-18.
Through 10 matches, Alyssa James leads her team with 109 kills. Isabella Cox has added 94, while Ariadna Henriguez, Mia Horta, and Jayden Minnett all have at least 25. Grace Pulsifer has a team-high 26 aces, while Horta has 106 assists. Defensively, Horta also leads the teams with 11 blocks, while Chloe Siqueira and Cox each have over 100 digs.
Next, MSD will play its final home match of the regular season on Wednesday, September 24, against Coral Springs Charter at 6 p.m. The Panthers are 9-4 this year after winning 10 matches a season ago, but losing in five sets to the Eagles.
