Marjory Stoneman Douglas softball had a memorable win on Senior Day on Tuesday against Somerset Academy.
Before the game, the Eagles recognized their four seniors: Bianca Guerra, Jesyne Espinal, Olivia Alvarez, and Kyla Davis.
“It’s a very talented senior class,” said head Coach Brian Staubly. “All four of them are moving on to play college ball. They had a lot to do with our success the last two years.”
Alvarez shined offensively with a pair of home runs and drove in five RBIs. Arianna Reynolds also had two hits, including a double, and knocked in three runs, while Isabella Silva also had an RBI. Espinal picked up the win allowing only one hit and striking out 12 in 5.2 scores innings.
MSD followed their Senior Day win with their tenth victory of the season on Thursday against Cooper City, with Silva knocking in three more runs. Reynolds and Addison Zajkowski were responsible for the other RBIs. MSD will next be in action on Monday against Coral Glades at 6:30 p.m. The Jaguars come into the game with a record of 8-7 after winning nine games in 2022.
