Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through April 3, 2023.
Fraud – Credit Card / Atm
A victim of Fraud – All Other at NW 62 Terrace was reported on 03/31/2023. The total estimated loss was $108,000. The victim sent wire transfers to an apparent fraudulent bank and account name given to her by whom she thought was her closing firm and agent. The victim was notified of the fraudulent transfer and contacted the closing firm. The agent with the closing firm stated they never sent a wire transfer agreement to her and that her email account must have been hacked.
A victim of Fraud – Credit Card/ATM on NW 58 Way was reported on 03/28/2023. The total estimated loss was $4,660. The victim stated that an unknown subject(s) charged $4,660 on her debit card without her authorization.
A victim of Fraud – Credit Card / Atm NW 59 Steet was reported on 03/30/2023. The total estimated loss was $3,021. The victim said he was charged on his Chase Card and Best Buy account. He said he spoke to someone claiming to be the Best Buy representative.
Burglary Conveyance
A victim of Burglary Conveyance on Solstice Circle was reported on 03/30/2023. 2 male suspects attempted to access the victim`s locked vehicle from his driveway. A perimeter was established. BSO Aviation was requested and responded to the area but could not locate the suspects.
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 03/30/2023. The total estimated loss was $6,100. Victims alleged that an unknown person(s) entered his vehicle. Victim`s laptop bag, laptop, and tablet were removed from the car. The vehicle was left unlocked overnight.
A victim of Burglary Conveyance on Solstice Circle was reported on 03/30/2023. The total estimated loss was $1,075. The victim advised an unknown subject broke into her unlocked vehicle, and her wallet containing her passport, social security card, 1 Chase debit card, 1 Chase credit card, 1 CashApp debit card, and an iPhone SE were stolen from within the center console.
Theft – All Other
A victim of Theft – All Other on NW 81 Place was reported on 04/01/2023. The total estimated loss was $1,600. The victim advised that his son was at a friend`s house at the above address when his scooter was stolen from the sidewalk. The scooter is an all-black Nanrobot D4+ which was worth $1,600.
Arrests
Seifert, Mark C., 62, was arrested on a Touch Or Strike/Battery/Domestic Violence charge on 03/28/2023.
