Marjory Stoneman Douglas Wrestling Finishes 3rd in Bobby Stanley Duals

The Marjory Stoneman Douglas wrestling team competed at Cardinal Gibbons High School in the Bobby Stanley Duals last Friday and Saturday.

The Eagles recorded wins over Boca Raton Community High 45-33 and 52-30 while also beating Charles W. Flanagan 53-29, Belen Jesuit 42-41, and Cypress Bay High School 39-37. MSD had losses against Coral Reef, Cardinals Gibbons, Braden Rive, and Southeast High School.

Individually, Timothy Carroll had six pins, Joshua Lopez had three, and Arav Shintre, Jacob Balk, and Olivia Yakich all had two. Parkland residents Peter and Michael Mocco also competed for 1A Cardinal Gibbons High School and went undefeated, securing pins against the number two-ranked wrestler in the 3A Conference.

Next, the girls’ team will wrestle on January 7 at Cardinal Gibbons High School, while the boys’ team competes in the Coral Springs Duals on January 10.
