Missing Majory Stoneman Douglas Student Found Dead in Coral Springs

A Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student who went missing from Parkland was found dead from an apparent suicide in Coral Springs this week, authorities said.

The teen boy, identified by Broward County Public Schools as an MSD eleventh-grader, was found dead in the 9500 block of Westview Drive, according to Coral Springs Police.

A police spokesman said the fatal injury appeared to be self-inflicted but declined to release additional details.

Police said the boy was found dead Monday, while school officials said the discovery was made Sunday.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office was investigating the teen’s disappearance as a missing person’s case before his body was discovered.

The boy’s name was not made public by authorities.

MSD Principal Michelle Kefford on Tuesday sent an email to students’ families alerting them to the off-campus death.

 

“While I cannot share specific details, I want you to know we remain in close communication with the student’s family and will do everything we can to provide support as they cope with this unimaginable loss,” Kefford wrote.

Grief counselors are available on campus if any students or staff members need their assistance, the principal said.
