Marjory Stoneman Douglas graduate Jake Clemente has officially signed with the Miami Marlins.
After being selected with the 198th pick in the seventh round of the 2025 MLB Draft, Clemente, a 2022 graduate from MSD, signed for $500,000 ($190,600 over the slot value). He was a star at the high school level, beginning his career at North Broward Prep. He went on to play for the Eagles, posting an 11-2 record with a 1.10 ERA and 106 strikeouts in 75 innings.
Clemente won a pair of State and National Championships, hitting nine home runs and 56 RBIS. At the collegiate level, he pitched in 19 games during his second year with the Florida Gators. Clemente won two games and began 2025 as the team’s Sunday starter, transitioned into the bullpen, and became one of the top relief pitchers in college baseball with seven saves. He pitched in 21 games and had an ERA of 3.46 to earn a spot on the Second-Team All-Conference.
