Bill Wallach celebrated his 100th birthday with family and friends at Allegro Parkland on Friday.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he participated in the Normandy invasion and served on a ship known as a “submarine chaser,” according to his daughter Shelley Holt.
After the war, Wallach returned to his home in New York and went on to enjoy a successful career in the lighting industry. He married Marilyn, and they have been married for 76 years. They have two daughters, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Both daughters, Holt and Linda Goldberg, attended the birthday party, and Bill sat next to Marilyn during the event.
Wallach was active in the Lions Club in New York and other organizations. At the age of 47, he retired and moved to Florida, where he enjoyed playing golf, tennis, and traveling, according to Holt.
“We had so many good times together. We traveled, and I especially remember one fun trip out to Las Vegas,” said Holt.

The party included residents of Allegro and friends Bill and Marilyn have made over the years. Also, Parkland Mayor Rich Walker, Commissioner Simeon Brier, Theresa Briar, district director with Rep. Jarad Moskowitz’s office, and district aide Linda Beauport with State Rep Christine Hunschofsky attended.
The event included a disc jockey who played music from the 1920s and 1930s, a birthday cake, and a fun social atmosphere.
