The Broward County Sheriff’s Office in Parkland responded to various incidents between January 5 and 12, 2026.
Information / Non-Criminal Incidents
Domestic Disturbance (Non-Crime)
Jan. 6 – Police responded to a report of yelling inside a Parkland residence. Officers determined the individual was reacting to distressing news about a family member’s health. No domestic incident occurred.

Jan. 6 – Officers documented a verbal dispute between a divorcing couple related to childcare. Children were never left alone and were not in danger.

Jan. 6 – At Terramar Park, a woman reported her estranged husband banged on her car window, demanding the children. No physical contact occurred, and the incident was documented at her request.
Lost / Found Property
Jan. 7 – A good Samaritan turned in lost car keys found near W. Hillsboro Boulevard. Deputies located the vehicle and returned the keys to the owner.
Crime Stoppers Tip (Unfounded)
Jan. 7 – Deputies investigated an anonymous tip alleging animal neglect. The claim was unfounded but forwarded to SVU for review.
Domestic Disturbance (Non-Crime)
Jan. 7 – A woman reported chest pain after an argument with her 9-year-old daughter. She was transported to West Boca Medical Center.
Cyberbullying Tip – MSD High School
Jan. 7 – An anonymous Fortify tip alleged cyberbullying involving a juvenile. The report was forwarded to the resource deputies at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
Domestic Disturbance (Non-Crime)
Jan. 8 – A woman reported verbal issues with her husband amid divorce proceedings. No threats or firearms were involved; she was advised on obtaining a protection order.
Information Report – Possible Theft
Jan. 8 – Fishing rods reported missing were likely mistaken for trash on garbage day. No suspects identified.
Threats / Intimidation
Reported Jan. 8 – A Parkland hairdresser reported receiving threatening texts from an unknown person demanding she not cut a client’s hair, including threats against her life.
Baker Act (Voluntary)
Jan. 9 – Deputies assisted with an adult experiencing a mental health episode; the individual was voluntarily transported for evaluation.

Jan. 9 – A second mental health transport occurred later the same night involving another adult male.
Domestic Disturbance (Non-Crime)
Jan. 9 – A verbal argument between a father and teenage son inside a vehicle was reported. DCF was notified.

Jan. 10 – Parents engaged in a loud verbal argument, prompting a child to dial 911. No physical violence occurred.
Missing Endangered Juvenile
Jan. 10 – A child ran away following an argument at home and made statements suggesting self-harm. BSO K-9, drones, and Missing Persons responded but were unable to locate the juvenile at the time.

Jan. 10 – A 12-year-old who made self-harm threats was located and transported for mental health evaluation.

Jan. 11 – Sisters argued over family visitation plans. No crime occurred.

Jan. 11 – A juvenile wrote a letter expressing suicidal thoughts and ingested pills. The child was transported to Broward Health Coral Springs.
Property Damage / Other Incidents
Property Damage – HOA
Jan. 7 – A six-seat golf cart caused approximately $2,000 in hedge damage in Parkland Reserve before being pulled free by a white Jeep Gladiator.
Structure Fire
Jan. 11 – Fire crews responded to KeKe’s Breakfast Café on N. State Road 7. A fire suppression system extinguished the fire before firefighters arrived.
Property Damage – City of Parkland
Jan. 11 – A vehicle, possibly a semi-tractor trailer, struck and destroyed a stop sign at Nob Hill and Loxahatchee roads before fleeing.
Thefts
Retail Theft
Jan. 11 – An unknown man stole two cartons of cigarettes from Wawa on N. State Road 7 and fled in a white SUV. Estimated loss: $200.
Arrests
Battery / Obstruction
Luis Erik Teran Martinez was arrested following a domestic battery incident in which he struck the victim and initially prevented her from calling 911. He was charged with domestic battery and obstructing justice.
