Information Report
On March 24, at around 3:07 p.m., a woman reported that a blue pickup truck stopped in front of her home in Parkland and said something to her two children, frightening them. The vehicle then left the area. No crime was committed, but the incident was documented.
Death Investigation
On March 25, at 8:17 p.m., an 82-year-old man under hospice care in Parkland collapsed in his home. He was pronounced dead at 8:29 p.m. after CPR was stopped due to a valid Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order.
Auto Theft
Between 2:40 a.m. and 10:46 a.m. on March 26, a Parkland resident reported his vehicle stolen from his driveway. The car was left unlocked with the key fob inside. Surveillance video captured the theft.
Theft from Building
A woman in Parkland reported on March 26 that jewelry and a purse valued at $24,695 were missing from her home. The theft occurred between March 18 and March 25.

A woman reported on March 26 that her stepson may have used two of her credit cards without permission while visiting Chicago. She did not wish to prosecute, and there is no proof he was responsible.

Baker Act
On March 26, a man was found unresponsive in Parkland after reportedly ingesting Oxycodone, Cyclobenzaprine, and alcohol in a suicide attempt. He was transported to Northwest Medical Center under the Baker Act.
Retail Theft
On March 26, at around 4:05 p.m., an unknown man stole $2,300 worth of baby formula and products from Publix at 8095 N University Dr in Tamarac. The suspect fled in a black Volvo sedan.
Baker Act
Later on March 26, deputies responded to a Parkland residence after a juvenile girl sent text messages threatening suicide following a breakup. She was taken to Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health under the Baker Act.
Death Investigation
On March 27, a 91-year-old man was found deceased in a Parkland retirement home. The man had a history of carotid cancer. His doctor will sign the death certificate.
Information Report
On March 28, a tent was found in an FPL field east of a Parkland property. It appeared someone was living in it, but no one was inside when deputies arrived.
Property Damage
On March 28, around 5:05 p.m., a speed sign detached from a trailer and fell into the road in Parkland, causing minor property damage.
Battery
A man in Parkland reported on March 28 that another man pushed him in the chest and spit on him during a verbal argument.
Information Report
On March 28, a Parkland man reported ongoing traffic issues in his cul-de-sac, including reckless driving.
Property Damage
On March 29, a man reported his car’s windshield was cracked while parked near pickleball courts in Parkland. The damage appeared to be caused by unknown means.
Baker Act & Delayed Theft
On March 30, a man exhibiting manic behavior and running red lights was taken into custody under the Baker Act. It was also discovered that he had previously stolen a .22 caliber rifle from a neighbor’s garage during a visit. The rifle was recovered, and the owner declined to press charges.
Theft from Building
On March 30, another report was filed against the same subject from the Baker Act incident. The suspect reportedly stole the .22 caliber rifle on March 27. The weapon was recovered and no charges were filed.
Battery – Dating Violence
On March 31, at 12:55 a.m., a woman in Parkland was pushed in the back by her boyfriend after confronting him over text messages to another woman. She had a red handprint on her back. The suspect, Josef Kaplan, 20, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery.
