Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through December 19, 2022.
Criminal Mischief
Miralago Dr.
On 12/14/2022, a report of vandalism was made. According to a witness, while walking to the clubhouse to check her mail, she observed a female dressed in dark pants and a pink shirt break off two metal letters from the signage within the waterfall fountain at the clubhouse entrance. When the witness confronted the subject, she became argumentative. According to management, the total cost to repair the sign would probably be around $1,000.
Fraud
Edgewater Ct.
A person was the victim of Fraud – All Other on 12/13/2022. The victim reported that an unknown subject stole funds via Zelle. The victim stated that he attempted to get a refund from Amazon.com and gave the subject his bank account number and debit card information. The victim advised that he was scammed out of $1,500.
Azul Ln.
A person was the victim of Fraud – Credit Card/Atm on 12/15/2022. The victim advised he received a fraudulent transaction on his USAA bank account from Apple.com. The victim advised he is currently at a loss of $780.30.
Information
Holmberg Rd.
On 12/15/2022, deputies took a delayed report from the 2020-2021 school year (19 months ago) about a reported 55 school laptops—issued under a signed agreement between the school and a student for a special “virtual school” session during Covid-19 restrictions—that were either returned to other schools and became lost, or were never returned by students at the end of the 2020-2021 school year.
NW 62nd Ct.
On 12/14/2022, a dispute between two neighbors was reported to deputies. One neighbor claims the other threatened him, and the other claims their neighbor drives recklessly.
NW 78th Pl.
On 12/14/2022, deputies received a report of a suspicious incident involving an unknown individual making multiple calls to the complainant, accusing the complainant’s daughter of having an affair with her sister’s husband. Days later, the complainant`s daughter made phone contact with the unknown individual, and they came to an understanding that, more than likely, she mistakenly had been calling the wrong person. It should be noted that the complainant advised that she and her daughter will file other reports if they receive any further calls from the unknown individual.
Property Damage
University Dr.
On 12/13/2022, the reporter stated that a landscape truck hit a community gate arm while exiting the community onto University Drive. The gate arm was broken, resulting in $600 worth of damage.
