Residents and business owners can get the scoop on the local business environment at an upcoming Parkland Chamber of Commerce event.
The chamber will host its Meet Your Parkland City Leaders event on Wednesday, Jan. 11, starting at 8:30 a.m., with a panel including Parkland BSO Captain Michele McCardle, Parkland BSO Executive Lt. Michael Gelske, and Mayor Rich Walker.
State Representative Christine Hunschofsky will moderate the discussion.
According to Walker, participating in the chamber’s events is important because he and the chamber can keep both residents and business owners informed on local trends and city developments.
At these events, Walker typically discusses city updates and projects. He enjoys every opportunity he gets to engage and discuss business information with residents to improve the city’s business environment.
He notes that although Parkland may not have as many businesses as most surrounding cities, numerous high-level executives and business owners live there. The panel, he states, is a crucial way to discuss best practices in various industries.
“The City of Parkland has worked hard to foster a positive relationship with The Chamber to show both our businesses and our residents that we care about their success,” he said. “It’s crucial that we provide resources and a positive atmosphere for businesses and business owners.”
Because of the chamber’s efforts, there have been tremendous strides in both community engagement and growth, he said, explicitly praising the efforts of President Doug Eaton and Director of Programming Cindy Kaufman.
“I am excited to see what the future holds for both the Chamber and our City,” he added.
The chamber will also serve breakfast at the event. The cost of admission is $20 for members, $25 for future members, and complimentary for trustee members, who may also bring one guest. It takes place at Aston Gardens, located at 5999 N. University Drive.
