This is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through August 12, 2024, compiled through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents.
Information was reported on 08/06/2024. The Caller advised that he received a threatening phone call from an unknown male subject at a blocked number. The caller wanted a report because his ex-girlfriend had a protection order against him.
A victim of Theft – All Other was reported on 08/12/2024. The total estimated loss was $40,000. The victim reported that his 2022 RV trailer was stolen off his business property’s lot.
Information was reported on 08/08/2024. Deputies responded about a possible shooting. There was no shooting upon arrival, and the incident was a swatting call.
A victim of Property Damage was reported on 08/08/2024. The caller advised she was driving on the grass on the west side of the road when she ran over something that flattened 2 of the tires on her vehicle. The caller required a report for insurance purposes.
A victim of Fraud—impersonation was reported on 08/08/2024. The victim contacted BSO to file a complaint about an unknown individual who used her personal information to obtain employment at the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA).
Wawa was a Fraud—credit Card/ATM victim at 7705 N State Road 7—reported on 08/09/2024. BSO responded to Wawa and met with store management regarding a found ATM Skimming Device that was placed in the store’s ATM.
A Suspicious Incident occurred on 08/10/2024. A resident stated that he received a suspicious phone call from an unknown subject threatening him to stay away from his “Baby Mama.” The resident is currently single and not involved romantically with anyone and believes that the call was a mistake or prank.
A victim of Theft—Motor Vehicle Parts—was reported on 08/10/2024. The total estimated loss was $250. An adult male advised that his license plate and decal were stolen from the parking lot in front of Di Pizza.
Information was reported on 08/11/2024. A neighbor dispute over parking was reported. The caller initially advised that one party was armed with a gun, but subsequent investigation showed that to be erroneous.
A victim of Animal Bite was reported on 08/11/2024. The reporter said the neighbor’s dog entered their residence through an open sliding door. The dog attempted to attack their dog, and when his mother-in-law was pushing the dog back outside, the dog snapped at her and bit her right hand, causing a very minor scratch/puncture wound.
Arrests
Khan, Khuram Adnan, 45, was arrested on a charge of Touch Or Strike/Battery/Domestic Violence on 08/11/2024.
