Parkland Mayor Rich Walker.
From Mayor Rich Walker:
As we round the corner on Election Day, the few weeks ahead are great opportunities to read up, be prepared, and cast an informed vote.
Before you vote, whether it is by mail-in, early voting, or heading to the polls in the general election on November 3, take time to educate yourself about what you will see on the ballot. This election season, you will see quite a bit, and while we want to say we will take time to study our candidates and know the issues, thinking about it and doing it are two different things.
If you haven’t looked at your ballot, take a moment to do the work. If you are a Parkland resident, you will have many choices to make. In addition to the gubernatorial race, there is a U.S. Senate and U.S. House race on the ballot. And this year, there are races for Attorney General, Chief Financial Officer, and Commissioner of Agriculture on the ballot. You will also find three proposed Florida constitutional changes on your ballot.
One is the Budget Stabilization Fund Amendment; another focuses on exempting agricultural-related property, such as farm equipment or tools, from property taxes. And a third is Amendment 3, titled, “Increased Homestead Exemption; Lower Cap on Increases in Non-Homestead Property Assessments.”
By now, you have heard plenty of information about Amendment 3, because it is something that affects everyone – property owners and renters.
Parklanders have always valued the importance of being in the know and staying informed. Constitutional amendments in Florida require 60 percent voter approval, so your vote always counts. The general election will be from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Early voting will take place from October 19 – November 1, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Parkland residents can vote early at the Pine Trails Park Amphitheater, 10561 Trails End, or at any early voting location in the county.
This election season, make an effort to familiarize yourself with all items on your ballot, make educated decisions, and if you do not understand something, do your research. For more information on mail-in ballots, early voting locations, and the general election, visit https://browardvotes.gov.
