There’s exciting news for children and young adults with special needs.
Parkland Buddy Sports 11th annual Running Buddies program begins Sunday, October 16, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The eight-week program takes place on Sundays at Terramar Park and is free to attend.
“This is an hour of fun running-related activities. Stretching, dancing, warm-up runs, long runs, music-based running drills, and then the funniest part at the end, we have the sprint to the finish line,” said Parkland Buddy Sports’ coach and running manager Fabio Tylim.
The program pairs special needs “buddies” above four with a student volunteer. Students of all ages are welcome to volunteer. High school students can earn service hours towards their high school diploma.
Since 2002, The Parkland Buddy Sports nonprofit organization has offered programs for children and young adults with special needs.
The address for Terramar Park is 6700 W. Hillsboro Blvd Parkland, FL 33067. For more information on Parkland Buddy Sports, go to parklandbuddysports.org
