Broward County Public Schools has announced the golden award-winning schools for the 2019/2020 school year, and out of 80 district schools, four are located in Parkland.

Presented annually by the Florida Department of Education, they recognize exemplary volunteer programs that promote parent and community engagement in education. 

The elementary schools that received golden awards have been recognized for many years: Riverglades Elementary School for 27 years and Heron Heights Elementary School for 11. 

This was the fourth year Westglades Middle School received a golden award and the 21st year for Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
