Westglades Middle School in Parkland FL.
A 14-year-old Westglades Middle School student was arrested Wednesday for threatening to carry out a school shooting in a Snapchat post, authorities said.
Snapchat contacted law enforcement Wednesday about the threat posted by the boy on May 31, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Broward Sheriff’s Office Threat Management Unit (TMU) detectives and the FBI immediately began investigating the threat, authorities said.
On Wednesday morning, TMU detectives spoke with the student, who admitted to posting the threat, BSO said.
The student was arrested for written threats to kill and was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center for processing.
His name was not made public by BSO, and authorities did not release additional details about the Snapchat threat.
