The Marjory Stoneman Douglas flag football team had two players recognized as Honorable Mentions on the FACA All-State Team: Katie Diaz and Mickayla Sugrano.
Diaz put together an incredible season rushing the quarterback, finishing with 31 sacks in 16 games. She also recorded 31 quarterback hurries, finished third on the team with 52 flag pulls and added an interception. Diaz earned First Team All-County honors and will return for her senior season.
Sugrano, a team captain, was another key part of the Eagles’ defense, leading the team with 69 flag pulls during her senior season. She also recorded 10 interceptions, broke up 13 passes and added a sack. Sugrano contributed offensively as well, catching five passes for 95 yards and scoring two touchdowns on her way to earning Second Team All-County honors.
The honors come after a strong season for MSD, which went 11-2 during the regular season and advanced to the Regional Final.
